"Worlds of Culture", the XVIII edition of Fabbrica Europa festival, opens a new inquiry featuring a view of the many and different "islands" that make up the cultural and artistic wealth of our continent.
Our magnifying glass will pinpoint a number of territories, which, although they are part of that "global world" that is the Europe of today, they each maintain their own particular and recognisable identity.
The Festival will welcome international projects and productions of recognized masters and of a new generation of artists who are enlarging the horizon of contemporary artistic languages through fruitful contamination among different disciplines. Through a structured programme of dancing, theatrical and musical events, site-specific installations, workshops and meetings, Fabbrica Europa will therefore provide another opportunity to draw up a state-of-the-art map showing the reflections and concerns permeating the Europe of today.

The fairy-tale shoemaker is Salvatore Ferragamo, because his story has mythical aspects and looks like a miracle. When we were children, we listened to many fairy tales on shoes, who produced them with his work, shoemakers’ workshops. Let’s put together these two things and we will have a new exhibition at the Ferragamo Museum.
The amazing Shoemaker. Fairy tales and legends on shoes and shoemakers is open at the Ferragamo Museum and, as if by magic, shows fairy tales and manuscripts on shoes.
It is like a series of sensations connected to each other, with many suggestions which make us dream and let our imagination run free.
From Cinderella to The Showmaker’s Prodigious Wife by Garcia Lorca, many volumes and manuscripts; twelve art house films, shoes of all time and coming from various Florentine museums, besides creations by Salvatore Ferragamo, made for female movie stars and permanently exhibited in Santa Trinita Square.
For this exhibition and inspired by the subjects suggested, a few artists, poets and film makers have produced new fairy tales and short films, which form an important part of the exhibition.
Artists coming from many countries and many different periods, from Giambologna to Mimmo Paladino, are represented with works on the subject of shoes.
An exhibition all to be discovered and admired with amazement and curiosity.
The exhibition will take place from the 19th of April to the 31st of March 2014. It is open 10 to 7:30pm and admission tickets cost € 6,00.
